Who We Are
Nestled in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, Macedonia Church of Christ has stood for decades as a pillar of faith, family, and fellowship. Established in the mid-twentieth century under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Harry Spellman and First Lady Grace Spellman, the church became known for its passionate worship, community outreach, and steadfast commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1979, Macedonia was formally recognized as a nonprofit ministry and continues to serve the city with the same spirit of holiness and love that defined its beginnings.
As an affiliated assembly within the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith (COOLJC), Macedonia embraces the Apostolic doctrine and the call to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel.” For generations, its members have dedicated themselves to teaching the Word, empowering families, nurturing youth, and meeting the spiritual and practical needs of the Newark community.
Today, under the continued legacy of the Spellman family-Bishop Robert C. Spellman & Mother Ruth Spellman as well as faithful leadership that follows, Macedonia Church of Christ remains a place where souls are saved, hope is restored, and lives are transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.
